Rosatom company ETC GET JSC opens School of Simulation at Tomsk Polytechnic University

On September 21, a grand opening of the School of Simulation of ETC GET JSC (a subsidiary of Rosatom State Corporation) took place at Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU). ETC GET JSC is a partner of TPU in the federal project "Advanced Engineering Technologies".

The opening ceremony was attended by the representatives of Rosatom State Corporation, Rusatom Service JSC, ETC GET JSC and TPU administration.

The School of Simulation is designed to promote development of talented young people - senior students of TPU who are interested in professional development in the Russian mathematical simulation - to train personnel to work with the domestic simulation technology, created and used for 30 years by ETC GET JSC.

Engineering and Technology Center GET is a partner of Tomsk Polytechnic University in the federal project "Advanced Engineering Schools”. Our School specializes in intelligent energy systems, which is closely related to IT and modern energy industry and the its digitalization. Therefore, establishment, thanks to the partner, of a computer class equipped with high-tech software will enhance the students' knowledge in the field of mathematical simulation of processes and power engineering. “I am sure that through cooperation in training of students in the field of power engineering, TPU will be able to expand its expertise in order not only to provide education that is in demand in the real economy, but also to be at the forefront of advanced research projects”, said Evgeny Bespala, Deputy President for Research and Technology Transfer of TPU, at the opening ceremony of the School.

"As part of the project on import substitution of industrial software for mathematical simulation, Rosatom in partnership with universities is involved in organizing a system of training specialists who will be able to develop and apply Russian software products in production. Among the joint endeavors is building of a community of young scientists and programmers, interested in development of digital science and achieving breakthroughs in the field of Russian САЕ-systems. The GET’s School of Simulation is aimed at creating a network of university centers that will build a talent pool for digitalization of industries. I am sure we will be able to raise the interest of students in the scale of the tasks we have to solve together", said Dmitry Fomichev, Director of Mathematical Simulation at Rosatom State Corporation.

"The School of Simulation of the Engineering and Technology Center GET at Tomsk Polytechnic University is the next step in creation of our company's network of engineering and mathematical schools. The opening of the Simulation School will bring cooperation to a new level. As a center for acquiring important digital competencies and skills in engineering IT systems, the School will serve as an effective platform for development of unique personnel capable of creating and implementing high domestic technologies in the future. Taking into account the experience of Engineering and Technology Center GET in implementation of digital solutions for thermal power facilities worldwide, it is important for us to support the young generation and provide a platform for professional growth in this area", said Alexey Kovalevich, Managing Director of ETC GET JSC.

The School of Simulation at TPU became the second one within the network of engineering and mathematical schools of ETC GET JSC - the doors of the first educational center have opened on September 1 at Kazan State Energy University.

The training will be based on the software package REPEAT – a model-based design and mathematical modeling environment. REPEAT is a fully import-independent product of ETC GET JSC, which is used by design institutes, design bureaus and educational institutions to create a sovereign IT environment.

During the training at the School, TPU students and graduates will be able to master simulation skills, including development of power facilities and processes simulators, creation of digital twins, design to improve the efficiency of power facilities, reduce the cost of production processes and the number of outages and accidents, as well as virtual tests of the designed equipment. At the end of the training, students will gain skills in operating nuclear power plants, knowledge in design and engineering, and broad digital competencies in general.

TPU employees who have been trained in the use of the REPEAT software package will teach at the School. At the same time, expert lectures and practical seminars will be held by specialists of ETC GET JSC. All graduates of the School will be awarded certificates of completion of mathematical modeling course, and students with high-level projects will be recommended for priority employment in ETC GET JSC and other organizations of Rosatom State Corporation.

At the end of the event, all participants wished the students to conquer the pinnacle of knowledge and make their professional dreams come true! Per aspera ad astra!
